And now...

On Sunday I received a notification on my phone for Tom Wilson’s new YouTube video, vlogs he posts every now and then. At about minute 8:40 he mentions my name and shows the Gene Kelly postcard I mailed him. I was so surprised and delighted when I heard my name and that he pronounced it correctly too!
Gene Kelly and Tom Wilson- two Irish-American artists from Philly evoking all three words in Tom’s podcast title- “big”, “pop”, and “fun”.
Like many people, I first knew Tom Wilson as Biff Tannen from "Back to the Future". I was 8 when the first one came out which is the same age my son was when he saw it and became a fan along with me. He was 8 in 2015, the year Marty and Doc time travel “30 years into the future” in part 2, a complete coincidence I assure you. Needless to say, I would love to attend a BTTF convention one day!
I think he was very good in all the roles he had to play in that trilogy. A couple years ago I came across his website that feature his paintings, bio, and a really good video he made called “I Am Pop Art”- saying, “I've painted a response to being a pop icon. After thirty years, I've become Pop Art, something that people look at, recognize, and remember. I've tried to respond with art. I hope you enjoy it.”
I thought his book, The Masked Man: A Memoir of Fantasy and Hollywood, was great- both reading it and the audio version.
- My husband’s back from seeing his family in the Dominican Republic and he bought a webcam from his brother’s store like he said he would so yay, we’ll hook the thing up today after work.
- Concerning the MLA, APA, Chicago, etc writing styles, instead of writing them on index cards, I ordered a handy little reference book and am waiting for it to arrive. Though some things are better remembered when I write them by hand, and I actually started writing these style notes by hand, I feel that doing this would be more effective.
- Looking at helpful tutorials like Amy TV helps me with my organization. Calendar blocking is awesome.
- When my sister comes back from her trip, we plan to talk about her idea of forming her own company, Siren Song Publishing.
Besos!
